I bought this dresser sign unseen.
I was pretty sad to find out it had been previously been painted. Not just painted though….painted with something I am sure would be illegal now considering my 40 grit sandpaper did nothing to it. We tend to “over prep” so to get this to something satisfactory took HOURS.
The legs came off and were repaired and reattached properly. Once that was done, we got set painting and I selected Sommerset Gold from General Finishes. I think this is the perfect yellow. We typically clean dressers up so there are no nicks in them but I knew I wanted to glaze this piece so I left a few imperfections for the glaze to get hung up in.
I put the handles to a vote on facebook. It was a close call. I loved them all and ended up purchasing 2 out of 3 of them plus another kind that I didn’t show. I felt like these were the least personalized and they looked best against the yellow with the glaze.
For the bottom drawers, I went with a different style of the same type of handle.
Here is the big reveal!
