This drexel buffet was bad. Very, Very Bad. Our neighbors (per their usual wonderful selves) called us to let us know they noticed it on the side of the road. Not only was this thing being thrown away, it was ugly. Peach and gold. Brown glaze with TERRIBLE drip marks. Drawers = no worky. Also- it weighed at least 10,000 lbs. Yep, 10,000. Take a second to soak this in.
Bad, right? It also has “1771” painted across it. I am assuming this has to do with the American Revolution but who knows. Somehow, a customer saw this piece and knew it could be great! We did a lot of repairs and put it back together. This finish was HORRIBLE to get off on the top but we succeeded and now it has a nice warm stained top. The piece was painted in red and glazed and distressed. The handles were finished in oil rubbed bronze.
I love how it turned out! SO MUCH BETTER! And it has 2 coats of Modern Masters Supreme Clear on it so it should be good to go for quite some time 🙂
